50 Years of Praise: New Song 50th Anniversary Reunion Concerts

Facebook Event Pages:

June 13th    June 27th

For five decades, New Song has been a place of faith, connection, and outreach – bringing together a diverse community and serving generations of families in the Portland area.

Located in the historic Egyptian Theatre location on the corner of Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard and Russell Street, this location has the distinction of having been closed as a theater due to race riots but rededicated as a church with a diverse congregation. Our very own founding Pastor, Richard Probasco, who has faithfully served this congregation for fifty years was only allowed to sit in the balcony when he went to the theatre as a child because African Americans, we’re not allowed on the main floor. Now he preaches from the pulpit.

New Song has also always been known for its music with various singers and musicians taking contributing over the years. As we celebrate 50 years as a church, we want to highlight that musical tradition with two reunion concerts. Coincidentally, 2026 also marks the 100th anniversary of completion of the building that was once the Egyptian Theatre.

We are hosting a 50th Anniversary Concert on Saturday, June 13th from 6:00-pm-7:30pm and Saturday, June 27th from 6:00pm-7:30pm at 2511 NE MLK Jr Blvd, Portland (Corner of Russell Street & MLK Jr Blvd), featuring Senior and Founding Pastor, Richard Probasco, and the New Song Church Vocal Band.

These concerts are FREE and open to the public.
